It was run by 7 volunteers and was given $500 per year from Saturna Community Club. In 1995 it became a "Reading Room", which entitled it to a Provincial grant. Over the years the number of volunteers increased and there are currently 25. Considerably more funding now comes from tax revenues resulting in an ability to purchase many more s.
