
Community Access ProgramAbout UsSaturnaCAN was initially created in 1999 by Robert Montgomery, with the assistance of Tracy Speers, to provide internet access and resources for Saturna Island. Additional support was provided by the Community Club and various volunteers. Through the Saturna Island Community Club - SaturnaCAN provides annual financial statements of its operations and has a financial control system requiring two signatures on any check. CAP (http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/cap-pac.nsf/eng/home) support will be available from Industry Canada until March 31, 2011. The CAP site at Eddie Reid Memorial Library is administer by the library Volunteer staff (250-539-5182). The CAP site at The Saturna Island and Recreation and Cultural Centre, 104 Harris Road, is operated by the centre's Society (250-539-2452). Public Internet Access SitesThe federal Community Access Program (CAP) currently provides a small amount of financial support for Internet access both sites. The two sites are the Saturna Recreation and Cultural Center (104 Harris Road), and the Eddie Reid Memorial Library (St. Christopher's Church basement (140 East Point Road).
