About the Saturna Arts and Concert Society:
The Saturna Arts and Concert Society was started, approximately twelve years ago by a local Saturna artist to bring concerts to the island. It developed into an umbrella group branching into other arts.
Presently, the Arts and Concert Society hosts an annual concert series consisting of four concerts held during the winter months at the community hall. Usually there is at least one classical and one popular performance to ensure that there is music to suit all tastes. Season tickets may be purchased for all four concerts or tickets may be purchased at the door on the night of the event.
For more information contact Patti Freba or check the brochure in the General Store.
In June the Arts and Concert Society organizes a talent show where local Saturna talent performs. The evening includes poetry readings, music and the Saturna Singers.
In the fall the Arts and Concert Society hosts an event to promote ticket sales for the up and coming annual concert series. This event, often an art show, involves the work of local artists.
Other Events and Activities Supported by the Arts and Concert Society:
Once or twice a year acting performances come to Saturna with the support of the Arts and Concert Society.
Since 2001 the Society has assisted the Saturna Artists Open House event by providing funds to print posters and promotional materials. During this event Saturna artists open their studios to the public to show their creative processes, give demonstrations and display finished work for viewing and for sale.
Anyone may become a member of the Arts and Concerts Society.
