SOCIETY ACT

 

 

CONSTITUTION

 

The name of the Society is SATURNA ISLAND FIRE PROTECTION SOCIETY. The purposes of the Society are:

 

(a)        to provide fire protection services to the inhabitants of Saturna Island in Electoral Area G;

 

(b)        to provide emergency response services to the inhabitants of Saturna Island in Electoral Area G.

 

 

In the event that the Society should at any time be wound up or dissolved, the remaining assets after payment of all debts and liabilities shall be turned over to a recognized charitable organization on Saturna Island or in the Province of British Columbia or elsewhere in Canada. This provision is unalterable.

 

The bylaws of the Society are those set out in Schedule B to the Society Act, with the following variations, deletions and additions:

 

 

1.         Paragraph 3 is amended by replacing the words "those persons who subsequently have become members, in accordance with these bylaws and, in either case, have not ceased to be members." with the words "all residents or property electors or such other persons who apply for membership and are approved by the directors as members and who remain in good standing."

 

2.         A new paragraph 58 is to be inserted to read: "Part 11 - Financial Year

 

58. Unless otherwise ordered by the Board of Directors the fiscal year end of the Society shall be March 31."     

 

3.         Paragraphs 58 - 62 are renumbered 59 - 63,
