In our continued efforts to increase Saturna's resiliency in the face of wildfire, we have organized a community "Spring Clean Up Party" on Saturday, March 2nd. The purpose of this event is to encourage residents to tidy up windstorm debris and brush on their properties, and to provide them with a means of disposal if they cannot burn yard debris on their own properties.

A large bonfire will be set up on Ian Gaines' property (near the top of the Missing Link-- there will be signs), and property owners are invited to drop their brush, yard trimmings and windstorm debris between 10am and 2pm. We suggest focusing on a 100' circle around your homes, or what we call "Zone 1" of your properties. By reducing brush and debris from Zone 1, you will dramatically reduce the ability of wildfire to spread to your house, or to neighbouring properties.

~If you are interested in participating, but due to age/illness are unable to tackle Zone 1 on your own, contact me at firesmartsaturna@gmail.com, and we will try to coordinate a firefighter to come assist you for a few hours.
~If you are interested in participating, but don't have your own truck to drop-off your debris, email me and I can arrange for someone to pick it up curbside on the morning of March 2nd.
~If you are away March 2nd, but would like to organize a pickup of your curbside debris, email me.

PLEASE NO CONSTRUCTION OR HOUSEHOLD WASTE. ORGANIC YARD/FOREST WASTE ONLY
