"We the Voyagers: Our Moana" A documentary film presented by Dr. Mimi George of "The Vaka Taumako Project".

We The Voyagers is a story about Taumako Islanders living the story of their ancestral-culture hero "Lata". To make a voyage, Lata needs a crew. He welcomes both hard workers with skills and applicants of dubious character, including an anthropologist. Our small Taumako Island community blesses the vessel and sailors, and we learn how to set the sails and find our way on the open ocean. We use the ancient navigation techniques passed down by our ancestors, by interacting with wind and wave patterns, stars and other signs that the ancestors show us when we meet adversity. We arrive at Islands and learn what happened to family members since the last voyage, some generations earlier. We reconcile, reaffirm our love for each other and look to our future together.
