Pilot to include travel in both directions until September 5, 2016

VICTORIA – BC Ferries is expanding a pilot project that allows foot passenger reservations for customers travelling from Tsawwassen to any island serviced on the Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands route to now include reservation opportunities for travel from Salt Spring, Galiano, Saturna, Pender or Mayne Islands to Tsawwassen. For travel between April 11 and September 5, walk-on passengers will now be able to guarantee boarding on a sailing in either direction of travel on this route.

Details of this reservations offering include:

• Reservations offered in both directions of travel, space is limited
• Full fare must be paid in advance by phoning BC Ferries Customer Call Centre
• There is no fee for reservations; no fee for changes
• Fares are non-refundable, but are transferable to another sailing
• Reservations can be made up to two hours prior to sailing from original port of departure
• Customers must check-in a minimum of 30 minutes prior to scheduled sailing time

  “Customers who have used these reservations thus far have expressed a keen interest in also making reservations travelling from the islands,” said Corrine Storey, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Customer Services. “Therefore, we are pleased to now offer reservations in both directions of travel through Labour Day in September.”

  The check-in time of 30 minutes will apply at all terminals serviced by this route. Customers are reminded that BC Ferries is allocating a portion of total passenger space for walk-on reservations, and there will still be walk-on passenger spots available for customers who wish to purchase a ticket at the terminal prior to sailing time.
